He then discusses Islam in the United States, and how this once distant religion has developed rapidly in the last decade. Among his findings: militant Islam has much in common with fascism and communism; about one is every eight Muslims worldwide supports militant Islam; and militant Islam is not spawned by poverty.

The book honestly unveils the sharp reactions against GSAVE (Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism) and GWOT (Global War on Terror) made by the unbiased westerners and Indians as well and is understandably critical. Dr.

Fahad's attitude towards the ultra-secularist/apologetic Muslims is clearly aggressive. These pseudo-scholars, hiding the truth that bloodshed is always counter-productive offer a good example of cheap opportunism; do not dare to criticise the foreign policy of the west; they instead try their utmost to hijack the discourse on Islam and terrorism as the book analyses.

The present work also examines the Islamic justifications of violence. It differentiates between terrorism and resistance in the law perspective and critically evaluates in detail the position of Sayyid Qutb, most popularly known to Muslims as Godfather of Resistance and not the Champion of Terrorism as the west wrongly perceives him.

In 1998, Osama Bin Laden identified the USA. Israel and India as the main enemies of Islam and targets for their terrorism.

In November 1999. In a rally at Peshwer, the "patron" of Lashkar-e-Taiba reaffirmed this target/goal as India.

On 8 June 2007, in a cassette distributed in a mosque in Srinagar, the Al-Qaeda further confirmed that for Islam, India as presently constituted ('Hindu-ruled') is their target for terrorist acts. Is secular democratic India in danger of balkanization? It is the thesis of this study that to deter terror, India as a nation must first foster a concept of identity.

A strategy to deter terror then can be formulated with that perspective. From a study of nations that have remain united, and contrasted with those which have disintegrated with those which have disintegrated, it seems that the crucial element for national integrity is the concept of 'who we are' that the people within a geo-political boundary accept.

This concept, however, has to be nurtured, renewed, continually enriched, and given substance. This present work is devoted to the concept of deterrence of terrorism in the India context, a concept hitherto held to be underfinable.

Not only the present situation/terrorism and counter- terrorism in each of the Seven states popularly known Seven Sisters has been discussed but their historical perspective too has been gone into in detail. Dealing with the terrorism in the North-East is not an easy proposition, given its diversity (ethin, racial, religious and linguistic), size, history and geography.

If India is a microcosmic world, the North-East is microcosmic India. Of the 5,653 communities in India, 653 are tribal of which 213 are indigenous to the North- East.

Democratic India has shown maximum possible accommodation to tribal communities. But it has not been easy dealing with them.

After long and sustained struggle, the Khasis and Garos got Meghalaya, a state of their own and now the Garos want Garoland to be carved out of this small state. Again, the smaller tribes in Mizoram want a Union Territory ( UT ) of their own within that State.

It is no secret that a U T is but penultimate stage on way to demand for a full-fledged state of the Union. All this shows the problems of dealing with terrorism in the North ?East.
