(less)DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
The aim of this hook is to develop the required skills on the part of the reader. The authors focus on the business of constructing solutions analytically and interpreting their meaning, although they do use rigorous analysis where needed.
The reader is assumed to have some basic knowledge of linear, constant coefficient ordinary differential equations, real analysis and linear algebra. The book will thus appeal to undergraduates in mathematics, but would also be of use to physicists and engineers.
MATLAB is used extensively to illustrate the material. There are manyworked examples based on interesting real-world problems.
A large selection of exercises is provided, including several lengthier projects, some of which involve the use of MATLAB. The coverage is broad, ranging from basic second-order ODEs including the method of Frobenius, Sturm-Liouville theory, Fourier and Laplace transforms, and existence and uniqueness, through to techniques for nonlinear differential equations including phase plane methods, bifurcation theory and chaos, asymptotic methods, and control theory.
This broad coverage, tbe authors' clear presentation and the fact that the book has been thoroughly class-tested will increase its appeal to undergraduates at each stage of their studies
(less)A FIRST COURSE IN DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH APPLICATIONS
Intended primarily to serve as a textbook for undergraduate students of science and engineering streams, this book would also be useful to postgraduate students of different disciplines. The book begins with an introduction to differential equations covering basic definitions and the role of these equations as mathematical models.
It further discusses the real world systems and their representation by differential equations of the first order. This is followed by power series solutions of the first and higher order differential equations and their applications.
The book also covers in great depth the system of linear differential equations with applications, Laplace transforms for representing and analysing linear system of equations and their applications to solution of differential equations, Sturm-Liouville theory, Fourier series, numerical solution of ordinary differential equations, modelling by partial differential equations and solution of partial differential equations with and without boundary conditions. Some well-known partial differential equations like wave equation, heat equation, Laplace equation and Black-Scholes model of financial engineering are also discussed in detail.
Differential equations modelling tsunami and heart beat are also introduced briefly. The salient features of this book are:| Written and structured in a manner that makes it accessible to an averagestudent.
|Includes a large number of applications so that most equation categories have an identifiable application area.|Incorporates a large number of graded exercises, including applied problems that can be understood and solved by anyone with basic knowledge of calculus.
Provides solutions, hints and answers to selected exercises

Then it goes on to give the applications of these equations to such areas as biology, medical sciences, electrical engineering and economics. The text also discusses, systematically and logically, higher-order differential equations and their applications to telecom-munications, civil engineering, cardiology and detec-tion of diabetes, as also the methods of solving simultaneous differential equations and their applica-tions.
Besides, the book provides a detailed discussion on Laplace transform and their applications, partial differential equations and their applications to vibration of a stretched string, heat flow, transmission lines, etc., and calculus of variations and its applications.
This book, which is a happy fusion of theory and application, would also be useful to postgraduate students
(less)TEXTBOOK OF ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
Beginning with a comprehensive treatment of linear differential equations with variable coefficients, the main part of the book is devoted to detailed coverage of some well-known special functions which provide solutions of second-order linear ordinary differential equations having several regular singular points. Many of the standard concepts and methods which are useful in the study of special functions are discussed.
The properties of special functions are derived from their differential equations and boundary conditions. Finally, existence and uniqueness of solutions of differential equations are established.
Worked-out examples are introduced through-out the text. End-of-chapter exercises further help to understand the mathematical and physical structure of the subject

ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
While the author has taken the liberty to omit some of the more specialized topics usually included in books on ordinary differential equations, the applications of these equations to mechanics,on the contrary, have been considered in more than the customary detail
(less)INTRO. TO ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
The emphasis throughout is on general properties of equations and their solutions. There are many exercises which help the students to develop the techniques of solving equations.
The problems in the text are intended to help sharpen the student's understanding of the subject. The author has used exercises to introduce the students to various new topics like stability equations with periodic coefficients and boundary value problems.
The only prerequisite to understand this text is the knowledge of calculus

(less)INTRO. TO PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS, 2/E
/ Worked-out examples and miscellaneous examples are included in every chapter to enable the students to assimilate the fundamental concepts and the techniques for solving partial differential equations. In addition, exercises are provided with detailed hints to reinforce the skills of students.
The new chapter on Partial Differential Equations of First Order would further enhance the value of the text. / Students appearing for competitive examinations like NET, GATE and the professionals working in R&D organizations would also find this text both stimulating and highly useful
(less)FOURIER ANALYSIS AND PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
In the two final chapters they turn their attention to the non-periodic setting, concentrating on problems that do not occur in the periodic case

NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS
However this is augmented by new sections on finite volume methods, modified equation analysis, symplectic integration schemes, convection-diffusion problems, multigrid, and conjugate gradient methods; and several sections, including that on the energy method of analysis, have been extensively rewritten to reflect modern developments. Already an excellent choice for students and teachers in mathematics, engineering and computer science departments, the revised text brings the reader up-to-date with the latest theoretical and industrial developments
